Top Tips

Be clear around what you want to achieve, when you want to achieve it by, the skills/knowledge required and the steps that need to be taken to get there.  Once you have done this, then focus on the doing. Taking a moment to create clarity around the task ahead is likely to save time in the future.

Trying to juggle lots of things at once is not a good way to save time. Researchers have shown that trying to do too many things at the same time leads to mistakes and takes people longer to complete the multiple tasks than if they concentrated on one at a time.

Most people will recognise that they function better at certain times within the day.  Where possible try and match the toughest tasks to these times and, if this is not possible and you have to take on a curve ball during your daily dip, then think how you can counter this – daylight, hydration and nutrition can all help.

Whether it be the set-up of your desk, light, temperature or noise, looking at how you can positively influence the environment in which you work will help you be more focused.
